Lao Ministry of Health and Thrive Networks Sign Memorandum of Understanding to Improve WASH Access
In a unified effort to advance safer sanitation and hygiene practices in Lao PDR, the Ministry of Health’s National Center for Environmental Health and Water Supply (Nam Saat) and Thrive Networks— known as East Meets West Foundation (EMW) in Asia— came together on May 27, 2016 to sign a Memorandum of Understanding that solidifies their partnership.
EMW is collaborating with the Water and Sanitation Program of the World Bank to support Nam Saat in scaling-up Community-Led Total Sanitation, hygiene promotion, and sanitation marketing in ten districts in Sekong and Champasak provinces. This Sanitation and Hygiene Output-Based Aid project facilitates access to improved sanitation through the provision of financial incentives at both the household and village levels. Improved sanitation— in conjunction with Hygiene Behaviour Change messaging— leads to improved health outcomes in the project population.
