Thrive Networks Vietnam Country Leader an Invited Guest at Obama Address

Ms. Loan Duong, the Vietnam Country Director of Thrive Networks, known as East Meets West Foundation in Asia, was an invited guest at President Obama’s speech to Vietnamese leaders at the National Convention Center in Hanoi on Tuesday, May 24th. President Obama stressed the need for strengthening the ties between the two countries, in order to heal and build for the future. The President broadly outlined initiatives which mirror Thrive Networks programs in Vietnam, including investments in education, the promotion of women’s empowerment, and supporting the establishment of private enterprises.

In 2016, Thrive Networks’ programs will directly reach over 890,000 people living in underserved communities in Asia and Africa and will continue to deliver best-of-class solutions. Our 2016 programs include a school-based deworming program affecting 730,000 schoolchildren in Vietnam, as well as installing household latrines in partnership with the Vietnamese Women’s Union under a grant from the Gates Foundation. We are gratified by President Obama’s interest and support for humanitarian aid in Vietnam.
